On 28/09/2017, at the Ministry of the Environment, the General Custody of the Sacred Conventsigned a memorandum of understanding with theUmbria Regional Environmental Protection Agencyand withSisifo – Sostenibilità & Resilienza, with the aim of creating a single sustainability project for the monumental complex that comprises the Upper Basilica, the Lower Basilica, the Sacred Convent and the Forest.

This sustainability plan – backed by Novamont since the planning stage -will regard all the activities of the Convent, starting from the life of the community of friars and comprising the welcome offered to pilgrims and the activities of the Basilicas of Assisi, with a view to identifying the best technologies and the most efficient, low-environmental-impact management approaches.
